This is already the second KRUPS coffee machine I have purchased (the previous one being the KRUPS Espresseria Auto Pisa). Whether it is the twice as expensive KRUPS Espresseria Auto Pisa or the KRUPS Essential Roma, they are most likely the same innards in a different body. There is no difference in the taste of the prepared drink. I also have long-term experience with automatic machines from DeLonghi and Siemens. Generally, I think that with home automatic machines under £700, it really doesn't matter what brand you get in the sense that they will all make you a somewhat similar "espresso". You still cannot compare it to a high-quality manual espresso machine. The two brands I can judge to be significantly different from the average are JURA and KRUPS, so if you don't want to spend £900 or more on a JURA, this KRUPS is an absolutely great choice. If you don't care about various gimmicks, displays, statistics of prepared drinks and the like, you will get better coffee from this than from other brands at double or triple the price of this appliance. I haven't tried the steam wand yet, but I see no reason why it should work any differently than on the KRUPS Espresseria Auto Pisa, where it worked fine (again, not to be compared with a steam wand on a high-quality manual machine).
