The only positive thing I can really mention is that it plays loudly and the bass has a decent rumble to it, but it’s rather imprecise. In my opinion, the voice acting in all modes is a bit of a let-down; it’s rather flat and everything sounds tinny… and the dialogue, which has been praised in foreign reviews, isn’t all that great from my point of view either… are lost in the rest of the reproduced sound.
I should also mention that I was planning to replace the Samsung HW-B650D, which I have set up ‘just in the pergola’ for the screen. It’s a 3.1 soundbar that you can buy for under 4K these days… is it any good? Yes, in every respect, and I really don’t care at all that it doesn’t have a rear speaker.
Anyone who buys this soundbar at the full price – which is currently around 12K – should have themselves committed to a mental hospital… For 12K, you can buy Samsung’s second-best soundbar, the HW-Q930F (last year’s model, which is identical to this year’s – the only difference is that this year’s model has an ‘H’ at the end and is more expensive). It's like heaven and a bagpipe. I’ve got it in the living room.
But even the price of around 8.5K on special offer seems high to me. Just a soundbar like the Atmos one from Temu: D
As someone who’s already on their fifth soundbar or so, I’d add a bit to that 8.5K and go for a Samsung, for example, in the one I’ve got in the living room – it really does make sense. If your budget doesn’t stretch to it, just go for something else from Samsung – it’ll always be better than the product reviewed here. To conclude, I’d say that, generally speaking, I’m not a fan of the Samsung brand; on the other hand, I have a Hisense telly (98E7Q) which I’m absolutely delighted with, but when it comes to soundbars, there’s simply no getting round the fact that Hisense doesn’t make them yet.

Easy to set up, great value for money, the surround sound is brilliant (you need the right midrange for it) – three stars. The ratings here are far too harsh; I tried it out with the film *Ready Player One*, and if all sound systems were like this, I’d spend far more time in front of the telly and the screen. I’ve connected it to the TV and the projector. Unfortunately, you can’t switch off the rear speaker; you can turn it down, but not switch it off, and you can hear it more clearly through the wall in the bedroom. That’s what bothers me the most. No cable runs from the rear speakers to the front; it just goes into the socket behind the sofa.
super surround sound
lots of settings
There is no option on the remote control to switch off the rear speaker
