I used to have an older version of this kit and I've been through Spain, Italy, France, Czech Republic and Croatia with it. Only good experiences. For shorter outings, the solid alcohol + mug is probably better, but if I'm going for more than two days, the minimalist with gas is more comfortable. It's perfect for minimalist backpacking. It's also great in the car as a backup dinner source. I have a cartridge in my car that is almost empty, so there is no more than 20 g of gas left in it - that's enough for two brews, and even if the remaining charge really wanted to explode in the summer heat, it wouldn't be enough to blow out the car windows, so I can carry it with me everywhere without worry. The only thing I miss compared to the old model is the neoprene cover - the previous version had fabric on both sides, here it's only on the inside.
