The mechanical pins on the controls are a definite plus. We had a whirlpool oven for a year with a touch screen and you really don't want that, it doesn't work as well as a cell phone display. After a year it went (it was used and knocked and we were not entitled to warranty repairs) and we were happy to jump back to (prehistoric) good old mechanics. We've only had the Gorenje for a little while, but for the money it looks very good design-wise and the cookies baked up magnificent. I hereby apologize to my wife for taking credit. It doesn't have a probe type contraption but how many times do you do a roast or other proper cut of meat. And by the way, a good cook or chef can handle it, right? So, in sum, price, performance - so far so good.
