I knew I was ordering a product that was a tenth of the price of regular glasses. I thought to myself, you never know until you try. And I've been wearing contacts for years, so a spare pair of glasses for this price… why not.
It's my own fault that I ordered a stronger prescription than I need (I automatically went for the same dioptre as my contact lenses, forgetting that you need weaker glasses). But. The description says it comes with a case. Don't expect one in the package, it isn't there. In the photo, you can see the glasses after fifteen minutes in the morning sun behind a window. You can see the tinting for yourselves, it's extremely slow and the tint is really very weak. Even the old Heliovar lenses from thirty years ago were quicker than this…
In the second photo, I tried to tint the lens by shining a UV lamp on it. After about a minute under the UV light, the lens tinted to the level you see in the photo (and they've been in the sun the whole time as well, for about 20 minutes now…). So, the conclusion? They're probably fine as an emergency pair; the frame is solid, and the arms and lenses hold well. But forget about the included case and the photochromic feature – it's at such a level that it's completely unusable in practice.
I was expecting worse quality.
As a necessary spare in case of an emergency, it's probably sufficient.
…and for that price…
The case, listed in the description as part of the delivery, is NOT in the package.
the photochromic lenses are clearly just wishful thinking on the seller's part. definitely not a reality
The lenses act like they're cylindrical – distortion at the sides.
