If you have a carbon frame, you shouldn't clamp it to the trainer (or ride on the rear wheel). The solution is cylinders. Plus, you keep your balance as if you were riding for real, while those who have been pedalling all winter on the trainer will fall helplessly sideways on their first spring ride trying to get going, you won't forget to ride: -)
It's a good idea to get special tires for the rollers/trainer, but any COMPLETELY smooth tire can be used - road tires with grooves are much more audible.
After purchase, take a good look at the design of the rollers, in my case I returned them because of the unevenness, probably they were taken out of the press while still hot, the noise produced was too loud for a prefab.
