I can recommend it, for the money a simple way to stream old consoles, setup absolutely no problem. I use it for console shots, like PS3/Xbox 360.
It can even accept the AV/component signal from a Random Chine converter, so I can also shoot/stream PS2 and other old analogue devices. The only thing I would criticize is the elgato software, you can't set the upload bitrate in it and it's pretty low if you're making videos for example on youtube. However, you can get around this by uploading your desktop via OBS or Shadowplay.
