My previous car sun shades had a white backing facing outwards to minimise the shade heating up the interior. This one has no backing, it's just a single layer of polyester. So it will necessarily heat up more than one with a white backing and heat up the interior. If only it provided good shade, but it's just a coarse "fabric" (made of plastic), where there are probably more holes between the fibres than actual material. When you put it in front of you, you can see your surroundings right through it. So it only dims the sun very slightly, but there's no way you can talk about any good shading. Why the nice picture faces out of the car, and its pale version faces inwards towards the child, is a complete mystery to me. Despite the description below, it's not a suction cup but a Velcro strip, the other self-adhesive side of which you have to stick to the door upholstery under the window (let's see if there will be a mark there over time once the sun has nicely baked it on, and you want to peel it off eventually).
