The motherboard in the Dell Notebook was not supported even with the latest version of the Bios. In a comparable Asus it ran without problems as described.
It can handle both DDR3 voltages. If you have a NB from ASUS ACR ci similarly seamless in terms of compactness with other manufacturers, the price-performance balance is good.
Not supported by all Notebook manufacturers. Dell notebook motherboards, ( but probably Lenovo/IBM or HP as well) do not support this memory either as DDR3 1.5V or 1.3V although this memory can work in both voltage modes.
