The item is unusable for the purpose of inflating the tire. All the material will spill out of the tyre. It's not a leak between the hose and the valve (a fault in the wrong connection), but the very end of the hose before it connects to the valve has a non-separable attachment, a leak, through which the stuff leaks out. Since I had read about it in other reviews, I bought 2 pieces so that at least 1 would work (since the other type was out of stock). Unfortunately, it didn't happen. So it is, in my opinion, more of a typical feature - a manufacturing defect.
