We have had them for over a year and they serve their purpose perfectly. They squeak/buzz minimally, compared to others I've had the opportunity to try. Installation could be faster, but it's a typical system for now.
locking could be on both sides, it's basically just plastic which prevents disassembly with an Allen key (it's part of the package). This way some idiot can get away with dismantling one side, which won't help the thief, but will definitely help me.
the lock is not very safe, so I would definitely not leave it outside for a long time without supervision
