I needed to grind away a fairly thick layer (2cm+) from a large concrete surface. I had previously tried various similar, unbranded – and therefore cheap – types of this grinding wheel. You can just about manage with those cheap tools on a small area, but grinding high-quality concrete in a relatively thick layer, especially in a tricky spot… I almost gave up on it, but when I finally managed to sand off a big flaw after a long time, I just took a chance, thinking it surely couldn’t get any worse with this high-quality disc. The difference is really noticeable; it feels as though it removes the concrete about twice as quickly as a non-branded product. On the other hand, it wears out more quickly; after 8 hours of grinding, it had worn down to about half its original size. But I managed to finish the job with it; with a generic blade, it would definitely have taken me another eight hours – not to mention the fact that I might have lost a hand – whereas with this one, I didn’t even have to apply that much pressure. So yes, it’s more expensive, but it did the job well – I can recommend it. (That said, for grinding poorer-quality concrete, non-concrete surfaces or small areas with a thin layer, I’d still be fine with a standard version costing a fifth of the price, bought who knows where) - I’d also recommend a more powerful angle grinder (at least 1500W); I’d burn out a small, standard one doing this – don’t even switch that angle grinder on without protective gear!

It’s about five times more expensive than similar non-branded products, but you pay for quality.
