I was a bit disappointed to buy a "better" branded board in 2024, which has a 2 year old FW loaded and due to that it doesn't see the inserted M.2 drive (Crucial P5). Fortunately ASUS has good support and downloading the current one was no problem, the update also went through without any problems (of course you need to have a second working computer to do this).
The bigger snag is that the board has "Intel Rapid storage" support enabled by default. In this setup you cannot install the operating system, the board sees the disks after the update but wants to create RAID and does not offer them to boot. Not even the windows installer can see them. After disabling this function, everything works normally.
The BIOS offers a wealth of settings.
