This is a high end motherboard which delivers and exceeds expectations. It’s integrated LED ( Dr. Debug ) which in addition to seeing various boot states, once booted it displays the AMD Tctl/Tdie ( essentially the hottest relevant point on the die ). Ignore all the trash talk about ASRock killing CPUs and just make sure you’re using the latest BIOS version.

After years with ASUS motherboards, I decided to try a change and switched to the ASRock X870E Taichi. Honestly I was a bit apprehensive as Taichi was my first experience with ASRock, but after a few days of use I have to say I'm really excited. I'm using the board with Ryzen 9 9800X3D, RTX 4080 and water cooling and everything is running absolutely smoothly. The boot is fast, the stability is perfect and the performance is exactly what I expected from a high-end system. What surprised me the most is the quality of workmanship. The board is heavy, massive, the heatsinks are honest pieces of metal and the whole thing looks really premium. Not cheap plastic, but a proper piece of hardware. The BIOS is different than ASUS, but once I got used to it, it's clear and has a lot of options. Setting up memory, fans, PBO and system tuning is easy. VRM and board temperatures are low and stable. I also like the equipment - USB4, fast M.2 slots, PCIe 5.0, strong power supply, high quality audio, LAN, Wi-Fi. In the future, I have confidence that the board will last me a few years without compromise. Overall, I get the feeling from it that it's really a flagship, not just marketing. Everything looks well thought out and robust. At the moment, I would easily call it one of the best records I've ever had.
