If you’re tempted by the AM5, don’t buy it. The 9800X3D is priced similarly; B650 boards aren’t overpriced; and yes, DDR5 is quite expensive, but you’ll still get a decent amount of money for your DDR4 on the second-hand market. I just really wanted to have this legendary model, and I’m far too lazy to go through the hassle of swapping the motherboard in my PC and everything else again. It handles -30 PBO with ease, with temperatures in Cinebench reaching up to 83°C at 4.45 GHz. The Ice Pad is a nice bonus, but it takes quite a while to work properly. Just let it run for a week and the temperatures will be fine. If you don’t mind replacing the thermal paste on your cooler once a year, you might as well bin the Ice Pad – it’s not that great.
