Thanks to the fuse, it holds well in the DP socket in the PC. (I only pull out the HDMI cable when switching the monitor from the PC to the laptop. )
It also works with a reduction to a DVI monitor at the opposite end of the HDMI cable.

I have 3 dp on my video card and the devices (monitor and TV next to it) are hmdi, so I needed a solution to this problem. Oddly, this didn't work on two dp's, but only on the third (the last one I tried), but it works as it should. So don't panic, be patient. I don't know what ranges it has, but it's good enough for 1080p and 60 Hz.
