At first glance, the product appears to be eco-friendly, but on closer inspection, the picture is considerably more complex. The safety data sheet states that it is a hazardous mixture which, among other things, contains synthetic polymers, phosphonates, surfactants, percarbonate and enzymes. One of the ingredients is also classified as H412 – harmful to aquatic life with long-lasting effects. Yet Alza states that its AlzaEco products are at least 95% of natural origin and “kind to nature”. For this particular product, I would therefore expect clear evidence of what the declared 95% consists of and on the basis of which test the product is considered ecological. I'm not saying the product doesn't clean – it probably cleans very well. But the “ECO” label is definitely not the same as “harmless to nature”, and in my opinion, the manufacturer should be much more specific in its ecological claims.
