We bought the TV to replace the old one at the cottage. It was on sale, so why not take the top model 55 TCL.
The picture is awesome, after a slight tweak to regular IPTV is great. Dolby vision on Netflix is the bomb. Standard HDR untested, I don't have the source. Snappy system, backlit remote, same as the TCL 65C9K.
So far, so good.
But the sound is tragic. The hisses are ear-splitting, the sound is tinny, horrible. If I didn't have it connected through the tower, I'd return it.
The sound adjustment options are almost zero. Presets plus "equalizer" - treble + bass, which is completely useless. The sound adjustment options that TCL TV had 7 years ago are missing. Other TVs in this category have sound in a completely different dimension.
TV can definitely be recommended if you use external audio equipment. For someone who wants sound directly from the TV, it's useless. For TCL's top-of-the-line 55 inch model, it's a disappointment.

I too thought OLED would be my only next choice, but this TCL cured me. For the price, I tried it and yeah! 🙂
