Optoma Photon Beam PK53

Optoma Photon Beam PK53
The Optoma Photon Beam PK53 projector uses DLP display technology and offers a native resolution of 3840×2160 pixels, a laser light source and a brightness of 4100 ANSI lm. It supports 4:3, 16:9, 16:10, 21:9 and 32:9 aspect ratios as well as Full 3D projection. The manufacturer has integrated DuraCore laser technology with a lifespan of up to 30000 hours. The projection distance ranges from 0.93 to 9.3m, creating an image with a screen size from 30". The projector weighs 2.9kg and is equipped with a built-in speaker, providing sound for presentations and films without needing to connect an external audio system. An analogue audio output is also available for connecting external speakers.

Image technology and resolution
The DLP technology in this projector creates a fine image with a native resolution of 3840×2160 pixels, which corresponds to the 4K UHD standard. The device processes a signal with a horizontal frequency of 15 to 150kHz and a vertical frequency of 24 to 240Hz. The display chip renders precise details with high sharpness and no visible pixel grid. Users can choose between 4:3, 16:9, 16:10, 21:9 and 32:9 aspect ratios.
Light output
The luminous flux is 4100 ANSI lm, with the specification also stating a value of 3280 lumens according to ISO methodology. The 500,000:1 contrast ratio helps render deep blacks and bright highlights. The high brightness helps maintain image legibility without having to completely darken the projection room. This parameter is helpful for presentations in offices and for watching films at home.
Colour rendering and HDR standard
The projector supports HDR10 and Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) standards for displaying a wide dynamic range. The colour system reproduces the international HDTV standard Rec.709 for faithful reproduction of film colours. Colour profiles offer precise settings according to the specific lighting conditions in the room. Users can fine-tune the colour spectrum to achieve natural skin tones and rich landscape shades.
DuraCore laser light source
The light source is a laser with DuraCore technology, which replaces conventional mercury lamps. The laser diode provides a stable light output throughout its entire lifespan. The maintenance-free operation saves on running costs and reduces the need for servicing. The laser system turns on and off almost instantly without the need for lengthy warm-up or cool-down periods.
Lifespan and noise, projection distance and image screen size
The laser source has a lifespan of 30000 hours in both normal and eco mode. The cooling system's noise level stays at 29dB(A), or 35dB depending on the selected power setting. The low fan noise does not disturb viewers during film scenes. The device's total power consumption is 178W, which reduces energy consumption compared to conventional lamp projectors. The optical system is designed for projection from a distance of 0.93m to 9.3m from the screen. The projected image screen size ranges from 30" to 300". This lets users adapt the projection size to the dimensions of their room.
Projector installation and low-latency gaming mode
The body, measuring 274×114×216mm and weighing 2.9kg, is easy to handle. Users can place the projector on a table or install it on a ceiling mount. Support for 360° projection expands the installation possibilities for unconventional commercial or artistic displays. The device does not use automatic focus or automatic keystone correction. Gamers can activate the enhanced gaming mode, which optimises image settings for a fast response. At 1080p resolution with a 240Hz refresh rate, the latency is 15.2ms. The low input lag contributes to a fast response when playing action or sports games. At 4K resolution at 60Hz, the latency is 24.7ms.
Smart control and connectors
This smart device supports Optoma's Smart Control mobile app for Android and iOS. Users can change the volume, switch inputs, or adjust display modes via their smartphone. The mobile app replaces the traditional remote control and simplifies settings management in a home environment. However, a remote control for direct operation is also included in the package. The connectivity options include two HDMI 2.0 ports, one of which supports the eARC audio return channel. An RS232 interface and an RJ45 LAN port are used for integration into control systems. The physical ports are complemented by USB-A power connectors with a 1.5A current output for powering external streaming devices. A 3.5mm audio jack connector provides the sound output.
