The HP Memory Server is a high quality memory server with reduced sampling and identification systems for enhanced performance on your computer. It supports registered ECC technology with parity checking, and has a capacity of 4 gigabytes. The ECC technology transparently checks data stored in memory in real time to ensure integrity. It is able to detect and correct an error in a single bit. Some memory controllers can even repair errors of greater magnitude using ECC memory technology. Most server boards require ECC memory support in order to use them. By using parity memory check, the HP Memory Server reaches maximum capacity of data transferred. The word Parity describes added auxiliary information (the parity bit) so it can then verify the authenticity of transmitted data.
The registered memory is equipped with a controller that manages access to individual memory modules and facilitates the work and memory controls on the motherboard or processor. Memory outwardly behaves as a single module - register chip - which is responsible for writing and reading of individual memory cells. It controls the passes of the outcome of these operations. This increases the efficiency of memory access and the processing speed, even when more memory modules are being run simultaneously. Some server boards require registered memory in order for them to work.
The memory stored on the HP Memory Server also has a separate addressable area (Memory rank). Most server chipsets have limited memory rank or directly specified memory configuration for each slot. If you are planning on buying future upgrades consider that if you reach the full rank of memory on the motherboard, you can not add another module even if free memory slots remain.
The HP Memory Module organizations chips, "x4", are designed for the most demanding applications and supports a broad range of professional technologies such as multiple-bit error correction, Chipkill, memory scrubbing and Intel Single Device Data Correction (SDDC), which makes the HP Memory Module ideal for mission-critical and mission-critical servers.
