Although electronic books (abbreviated e-books) were predicted a great future already several years ago, only now they are becoming really popular thanks to today’s technological advancements. Until recently, eBook readers have still been impractical devices with dimensions that had not much to do with mobility and the same went for ease of use. The vast majority of eBook readers are equipped with an advanced display that is easy on the eyes, is very reminiscent of text on plain paper and has absolutely minimal power consumption. This is thanks to the use of a special technology called electronic ink (or E Ink), where the display uses power only when it is redrawing a new page. The still image with text is basically using no power, because the special crystals of the display do not change their position and remain in place (which is great for static text that is easier to read like this).
Tip: An eBook reader is, of course, ideal for anyone, who likes to read, but doesn’t want to haul around a heavy several hundred page novel. It is particularly appreciated by those, who frequently travel and want to have several of their favourite titles on hand all the time.
