The Eaton 5P 1550GR-L backup power supply is a line-interactive UPS that reliably protects servers, network components and data storage in a rack environment. With a real power output of 1100W and an apparent power of 1550VA, this 1U rack UPS is ready for demanding IT workloads. Its key feature is the use of a lithium-ion battery, which offers a longer lifespan and lower maintenance requirements compared to traditional lead-acid batteries. This Li-ion backup power supply provides a backup time of up to 11 minutes at half load, giving you enough time for a controlled shutdown of your systems. The compact 1U rack design makes it easy to integrate into standard server cabinets, saving valuable space.

Topology and performance

This Eaton power supply uses line-interactive topology, which uses automatic voltage regulation (AVR) to correct mains fluctuations without switching to battery power. It offers an apparent power of 1550VA and a real power of 1100W. High efficiency of up to 97% reduces operating costs and heat generation. The backup time is 4 minutes at full load and extends to 11 minutes at 50% load.

Battery and protection of the Eaton 5P 1550GR-L backup power supply

The core of the power supply is a modern lithium-ion battery, which has a significantly longer lifespan compared to lead-acid batteries. The integrated battery management system (BMS) continuously monitors its status and temperature and protects against deep discharge, thereby optimising its life and performance. If necessary, the battery can also be replaced directly by the user without the need for professional servicing. The power supply supports a cold start, meaning it can be started directly from the battery without mains power, and it also includes surge protection for connected devices.

Advanced management and monitoring

USB and RS-232 ports are used for communication and management. The clear graphical LCD shows key operating parameters in real time and measures energy consumption in kWh. The included Eaton Intelligent Power Manager software supports controlled system shutdown and seamless integration with virtualisation platforms like VMware and Hyper-V. For advanced network management, the power supply can be expanded with an optional gigabit network card, which enables remote monitoring and configuration via a web interface.

Connector equipment

A standard IEC C14 input connector is used for connection to the mains. To power the protected devices, it offers a total of six IEC C13 output sockets. The package includes a power cord retention system to prevent accidental disconnection. All output sockets are fully backed up and protected against surges.
