Optical prism

An optical prism is an element that is often used in stargazing telescopes to change the direction of a light beam without changing its properties. This element is used to create the correct view for an observer who may not have a direct view of the object. Optical prisms are also used to correct for colour aberration and to achieve better image contrast when observing.
