AVI Video Format

The AVI video format, commonly known as "Audio Video Interleave", is a file container used to store video and audio data in a single file. The container can be thought of as a wrapper into which the video track and audio track are placed together so that they can be played back in sync. The video and audio data itself is processed inside the container using so-called codecs, which are algorithms for compressing and decompressing the data. AVI files can be larger in data size compared to other formats at the same recording quality.
